Hurrican Complete

Developer: Poke53280 (now Winterworks) Year: 2007 Platform: Windows PC (SDL2 port: multi-platform) Licence: Freeware

Hurrican is the most celebrated and complete Turrican fan game ever made. Developed over five years of spare-time work by the team known as Poke53280 (now Winterworks), Hurrican was released in June 2007 as a full-length freeware tribute to the Turrican series. The game contains nine complete action levels with modern high-resolution graphics, detailed parallax scrolling, an original high-quality soundtrack, and gameplay mechanics that faithfully replicate and extend the Turrican formula.

After hundreds of thousands of downloads, Hurrican found a permanent home at Winterworks. All source code, level editor assets, and game files have been released to the public under a non-commercial licence. An active GitHub repository (HurricanGame/Hurrican) maintains the project with SDL2 support, CRT simulation, and ongoing community contributions.

T2002 Complete

Developer: Pekaro Year: 2003 Platform: Windows PC · Game Boy Advance Licence: Freeware

T2002 is an earlier fan-made Turrican tribute developed by Pekaro and released in 2003, predating Hurrican by four years. The game was designed as a direct homage to the C64 and Amiga Turrican games, attempting to recreate the feel of the originals. A Game Boy Advance version was also created, making T2002 one of the few Turrican fan games to target original handheld hardware.

Turrican (C64 Fan Sequel by Smash Design, 2004) Complete

Developer: Smash Design Year: 2004 Platform: Commodore 64 Licence: Freeware

Among the most technically impressive entries in the fan Turrican tradition is a fan-made Turrican continuation developed by Smash Design in 2004 for the original Commodore 64 hardware. Working within the severe constraints of the SID chip and 64KB of RAM, the team produced a new Turrican experience that runs on the original C64 - not an emulator, but the real machine that started it all.

Turrican Anthology Vol. I & Vol. II (2022)

Publisher: ININ Games Year: 2022 Platform: PlayStation 4 · Nintendo Switch

Following Turrican Flashback, ININ Games released two anthology volumes in 2022 that expanded the coverage to eight titles total. Vol. I contains Turrican (C64, Amiga, Game Boy), Turrican II: The Final Fight (C64, Amiga), and Super Turrican (SNES). Vol. II contains Turrican 3: Payment Day (Amiga), Mega Turrican (Genesis), Super Turrican 2 (SNES), and Rendering Ranger: R2 (SNES).

The inclusion of Rendering Ranger: R2 - the Manfred Trenz SNES title never released outside Japan - was a landmark preservation achievement. The anthologies represent the most comprehensive official Turrican release since the series' commercial run in the 1990s.
