Flashback — Amiga OST

Gesqua's Amiga score for Flashback is one of the finest in the medium. Composed in a tracker on four channels, it achieves a sustained mood of sci-fi melancholy unique in the 16-bit era.

About Amiga Tracker Music

Both Flashback and Another World used Amiga MOD format for their music — a sample-based tracker format native to the Amiga's Paula chip, with four independent audio channels. The MOD format allowed composers to bundle their instrument samples with the music data in a single file, making distribution and preservation straightforward.

Gesqua's Flashback modules are held in high regard in the tracker community for their compositional sophistication within the hardware's constraints. They are preserved at:

For more about the composers, see People. For context on the games themselves, see the Flagship deep dives.
