Command & Conquer Remastered Collection

The definitive modern way to play the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert. EA and Petroglyph Games (founded by former Westwood staff) produced a full 4K remaster with toggle-able original graphics, remastered Frank Klepacki soundtracks, modernised UI, and online multiplayer. Released June 2020. Available on Steam and EA App.

The remaster was developed with significant community input and includes the full original game code, available on GitHub. Both original games and all expansion content are included. The soundtrack was separately released on streaming platforms.

OpenRA

OpenRA is an open-source real-time strategy engine that faithfully recreates the classic Westwood C&C experience with full modern platform support: high-resolution displays, online multiplayer, cross-platform play. Includes OpenRA Red Alert, OpenRA Tiberian Dawn (C&C), and OpenRA Dune 2000.

Free to download and play. Active development community. An excellent way to experience the games at their best on current hardware.

CNCNet Online Multiplayer

CNCNet provides free online multiplayer for the classic C&C titles: Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, and Dune 2000. The platform uses the original game executables with modern network code, preserving the authentic experience while enabling online play. Active player bases across multiple titles.

Blade Runner via ScummVM

The 1997 Blade Runner adventure game is now fully supported by ScummVM, providing compatibility with modern operating systems, high-resolution rendering, and bug fixes absent from the original release. The game is available on GOG.com. Requires ScummVM 7.0 or later.

This is the only legally and technically sound way to play Blade Runner today. The ScummVM restoration was a multi-year community effort and is considered definitive.

Nox via GOG

Nox is available on GOG.com with modern compatibility patches. The GOG version includes the original game with DRM-free download and runs on current Windows versions. The online multiplayer servers are no longer official but community projects provide alternatives.

Tiberian Sun Fan Patch & Renegade-X

Tiberian Sun was made freeware by EA in 2010 and is available to download. The community Tiberian Sun client provides modern resolution support and online multiplayer. Renegade-X is a free fan-made remake of C&C Renegade in Unreal Engine 3, actively maintained with online multiplayer.

Eye of the Beholder & Kyrandia via GOG

Eye of the Beholder and The Legend of Kyrandia trilogy are available on GOG.com with DOSBox pre-configured for modern compatibility. The Kyrandia games are also supported by ScummVM for improved rendering.
