Bubble Bobble (NES, 1988) — Tadashi Kimijima
One of the most recognisable NES melodies. The main theme loops with infectious energy across all 100 levels.
Arkanoid (NES, 1988)
The Arkanoid NES port retained the arcade’s hypnotic electronic score — minimalist but perfectly suited to the focus-intensive gameplay.
Rainbow Islands (NES, 1991) — Hisayoshi Ogura
Ogura’s Rainbow Islands score is a masterpiece of cheerful, layered NES composition. The stage themes shift between worlds while maintaining a consistent joyful character.
Space Invaders (NES, 1985)
The NES conversion of the game that started it all. Minimal but iconic.

Taito Composers
Taito’s internal sound team produced some of the most enduring melodies in gaming history, composed under the 2A03’s five-channel constraint.
- Hisayoshi Ogura (OGR) — Taito’s most prolific NES/arcade composer. Credits include Rainbow Islands, Rastan, and Darius. Known for upbeat, melodically complex compositions.
- Tadashi Kimijima — Bubble Bobble (NES port). The Bubble Bobble main theme is one of the most recognisable game melodies ever written.
- Zuntata — Taito’s internal sound team, whose name (short for “Taito Zuntata”) became a brand in its own right. Responsible for dozens of arcade and console titles from the mid-1980s onwards.
