About SID Music

The SID chip (Sound Interface Device, MOS 6581/8580) was the sound chip of the Commodore 64. Its three oscillators, ring modulation, and programmable filter produced sounds far ahead of contemporary home computers. Composers like Rob Hubbard, Ben Daglish, and Matt Gray pushed it to extraordinary limits.

System 3 titles featured some of the most celebrated SID compositions of the 8-bit era. The soundtracks heard here are the original .sid binary files — the actual programs loaded and played by the C64 hardware — emulated at sample rate precision in your browser.

These recordings are preserved by the High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC), a volunteer archive of over 50,000 SID files. This page hosts a curated selection of System 3 titles.
