"Blimey It's Only…" - Richard Leinfellner (Palace Software)
The two-part "Blimey It's Only…" YouTube interview series with Richard Leinfellner is the primary source for Palace Software's company history. Leinfellner discusses the founding of the Palace Group, the development of Barbarian, and the Titus acquisition with candour. The following excerpts summarise key themes from the interviews.
Richard Leinfellner - on founding Palace Software
"We started as part of the Palace Group, which had its roots in music and entertainment. Pete [Stone] and I saw an opportunity in home computers - the market was exploding and there was space for studios with actual personality, not just bedroom coders churning out clones."

Richard Leinfellner - on Barbarian's cover art strategy
"We knew the cover would get attention. That was the point. You had to fight for shelf space and eyeballs. Maria and Michael on that cover - it was bold, it was deliberate, and it worked. The Whitehouse campaign just gave us more press."

Richard Leinfellner - on the Titus acquisition
"The Titus deal was the end of Palace as we knew it. It was a commercial reality - the market had changed, the 8-bit era was closing, and we had to make decisions. Pete and I both moved on. It was the right time, even if it didn't feel like it at the moment."

Richard Joseph - Remix64 Interview (Excerpt)
Richard Joseph discussed his composition work for Palace Software in interviews with the Remix64 community. The following is an excerpt; the full interview is available on the Richard Joseph dedicated site.
Richard Joseph - on composing for the C64 (Remix64)
"The C64's SID chip is a remarkable instrument - three voices, but with enormous expressive range if you know how to drive it. Barbarian needed something that felt epic and physical. I wanted the player to feel like a warrior before they'd even touched the joystick."
