About the Illustrations

Magnetic Scrolls commissioned professional illustrators to produce full-colour painted artwork for each game — not bitmapped conversions or pixel art, but genuine paintings rendered in full colour and displayed at the highest resolution available on each platform. The images functioned as visual chapters, changing as the player moved through the world and encountered significant objects or characters.

Geoff Quilley defined the early Magnetic Scrolls visual identity with his work on The Pawn and The Guild of Thieves: classical compositions, muted earth tones, and a painterly quality that recalled nineteenth-century book illustration. Terry Humphries brought a more vivid, contemporary register to Jinxter and Corruption. Alan Hunnisett illustrated Fish! and Myth; Ghislaine Selby's surreal work in Wonderland matched Carroll's dreamlike source.

The complete illustration sets are archived at the Magnetic Scrolls Memorial.
