Community

The players, archivists, developers, and enthusiasts keeping the Magnetic Scrolls legacy alive in 2024 and beyond.

A Community That Endures

Magnetic Scrolls ceased operation in 1993 — but the community around their games never disappeared. Text adventure enthusiasts maintained archives, wrote walkthroughs, and discussed the titles on the interactive fiction community forums that emerged in the early internet era. The Magnetic Scrolls Memorial was founded to preserve the studio's documentation, artwork, and history for future generations.

Today, interest in Magnetic Scrolls has been renewed by several converging forces: Ken Gordon's Strand Games remaster programme, the 2024 Spectrum Next compilation, the Kim Justice documentary, and growing interest in the history of interactive fiction as a literary form. New players are discovering the catalogue through these modern entry points; long-standing fans are revisiting the games with fresh eyes.
