Scene Context

The European demo scene of the 1980s and early 1990s was a competitive subculture in which groups of programmers, artists, and musicians created non-commercial software to demonstrate technical mastery. For composers like Jeroen Tel, the scene provided both training ground and continuing creative outlet.

Music on Noise’s scene releases are documented at CSDb (group 448), Demozoo (group 950), and Pouet. The C64 releases are playable via VICE; Amiga releases via WinUAE or WHDLoad.

C64 Demo Music

Cybernoid Music (1988)
C64 · Music on Noise · 1988 · CSDb
A standalone music demo distributing the Cybernoid soundtrack before or alongside the commercial release. Common practice in the scene era — music demos let the community hear compositions in isolation from the game. A significant early MoN scene release.
Outrun Europe Music
C64 · Music on Noise · CSDb
Music demo featuring the OutRun Europa / related racing game soundtrack. Demonstrates Tel’s approach to high-energy driving game scores on the SID chip. Documented in the MoN group page at CSDb.
Star Flake
C64 · Music on Noise · CSDb
A demo production from MoN’s active C64 period. Combines demo scene visuals with Tel’s SID compositions — the format in which his demo scene work was typically distributed to the community.
Echofied 6581 (2010)
C64 · Music on Noise · 2010 · CSDb
A return to the C64 demo scene after a long absence. The title references the 6581 SID chip revision — the original, beloved chip with the distinctive filter response. Released in 2010, it demonstrates that Tel’s command of SID programming remained fully intact over two decades after his peak commercial period. A significant MoN scene release. Find it at CSDb group 448.
Trivia-Game Music
C64 · Music on Noise · CSDb
One of several music distribution demos from MoN’s early active period. Scene demos of this type served as informal distribution of game and original music to the C64 community, predating online distribution.

Amiga Demo Scene

MoN Amiga Releases
Amiga · Music on Noise · Various · Demozoo / Pouet
MoN’s Amiga demo releases are documented at Demozoo and Pouet. The transition from C64 SID to Amiga MOD/tracker format allowed Tel and the MoN collective to expand their sonic palette significantly. Amiga tracker modules are archived at Amiga Music Preservation.
