About the Epyx Sound
Epyx's SID output spans multiple composers and styles. Impossible Mission's tense, sparse tones contrast sharply with Chris Grigg's exuberant California Games score - together they define the Epyx sound.
Impossible Mission
The SID score for Impossible Mission is stripped-back and atmospheric - a sparse, unsettling theme that matches the game's tension. Combined with the ESS-synthesised speech, it created an audio experience unlike anything heard on a home computer in 1984.

California Games - Chris Grigg
Chris Grigg's California Games score is one of the finest achievements in C64 music. The half-pipe theme is instantly recognisable; the surfing event's "Louie Louie" arrangement is a joyful classic. Each of the six events has its own distinct theme - all of them excellent.
