Martin Iveson — Amiga Tracker Music

Core Design’s Amiga titles used tracker-format music — not SID. Martin Iveson composed acclaimed soundtracks for Chuck Rock and Heimdall in Amiga tracker format (4-channel MOD).

Chuck Rock (1991)

Composer: Martin Iveson

Format: Amiga Tracker MOD (4-channel Paula) — NOT SID

Iveson’s Chuck Rock soundtrack is one of the most loved Amiga scores of the early 1990s - upbeat, cartoonish, and perfectly matched to the game’s prehistoric humour. The main theme has extraordinary energy for a 4-channel tracker composition.

  1. Title Theme
  2. Level 1 — Prehistoric Meadows
  3. Level 2 — Caves
  4. Level 3 — Jungle
  5. Level 4 — Swamp
  6. Level 5 — Boss Theme
  7. Victory

Heimdall (1991)

Composer: Martin Iveson

Format: Amiga Tracker MOD (4-channel Paula) — NOT SID

The Heimdall soundtrack takes a very different direction from Chuck Rock - darker, more atmospheric, and evocative of Norse mythology. Iveson’s orchestral-leaning tracker compositions gave Heimdall a cinematic quality unusual for the era.

  1. Title Theme — Hall of Asgard
  2. Overworld
  3. Dungeon
  4. Combat
  5. Victory

Further Core Design Music

Matt Furniss composed the soundtracks for Jaguar XJ220 (1992) and the Genesis version of Wolfchild (1992). Furniss was one of the leading Genesis/Mega Drive composers of the era, working with the YM2612 FM chip.

Matthew Simmonds (4-Mat) contributed Amiga tracker music to Core Design productions. His work is celebrated in the Amiga demoscene and tracker communities.

For the Tomb Raider series (1996–2003), Nathan McCree composed the PlayStation and PC soundtracks, contributing significantly to Lara Croft’s iconic sonic identity.
