Videos

Ben Daglish video material is sparser than that of contemporaries such as Rob Hubbard or Martin Galway. There are no studio recordings and very few live appearances on camera. What survives is valuable: a handful of SID80s performances, oscilloscope visualisations created by the SID music community, game longplays, and the Back in Time Live 2001 interview. This page collects the best of what is available.

Interviews & Performances

Back in Time Live 2001

On-stage interview and performance. One of very few surviving video documents of Daglish discussing his career in person.

SID80s - Live Performance

Ben Daglish and Mark Knight performing C64 classics live. SID80s brought 8-bit music to pub venues and retro gaming events.

Oscilloscope SID Showcases

Oscilloscope visualisations show each of the SID's three voices as waveforms, making the structure of the music visible. Created by the SID music community.

Gauntlet - Oscilloscope

All five Gauntlet subtunes visualised. The dungeon themes' bass-line construction is particularly clear in oscilloscope form.

The Last Ninja - Wastelands Oscilloscope

Daglish's Wastelands and Wilderness themes. The three-voice counterpoint is visible in the waveform separation.

Krakout - Oscilloscope

Krakout title, in-game and high-score themes. The walking bass and eighth-note melody are clearly visible.

Game Longplays

Gauntlet - C64 Longplay

US Gold's C64 port of the Atari arcade. Daglish's dungeon music plays throughout.

The Last Ninja - C64 Longplay

All seven levels with Daglish (Wastelands, Wilderness) and Lees (levels 3–7) music.

Krakout - C64 Longplay

Gremlin's Breakout variant. One of the most-played SID loading themes of the era.

Deflektor - C64 Longplay

Gremlin's laser-puzzle game. Daglish's measured, electronic score matches the game's pace.
